I. Practice Rules

A.    Information will be communicated in writing, whenever possible.  Information will include, game time, location, practice times for the week and any other info that the cheerleaders need.

 B.    There is a limit of 2-3 practices per week during the summer and 1-2 practices per week plus games during school weeks, unless agreed upon by ALL parents.                    

 C.    No practices will be held until the date allowed by OSHAA rules (the date Mason Youth Football teams start practicing).      

 D.          No mounds, partner stunts, or gymnastic instruction is permitted.

 E.          No pets are allowed at practice or on practice fields.

 F.          Cheerleaders must stay with their coach and squad during practices. 

 G.          NO wandering or socializing will be tolerated.

 H.          No gum or food will be permitted during practices.          

 I.    Parents are allowed at practices.  However, they are not allowed to interfere with the practice.  If a parent is leaving the practice(s), they must let the coach/cheer mom know where they can be reached. 

 

J.    To practice you must be wearing practice clothes.  This means shorts, sweats, leggings, t-shirts.

    a. Absolutely no dresses, skirts, jean shorts or tight jeans. 

 

K.    Gym shoes onlyno sandals at practice 

 

L.          Hair must be pulled back away from face at all times.

II. Attendance: II. Attendance:

A.    All practices and games are mandatory. 

 

B.    After school starts, each cheerleader is allowed:    

·   If you practice 2 times/week for the majority of the season, 4 excused absences from practice.

·   If you practice 1 times/week for the majority of the season, 2 excused absences from practice.

·   Excused absence examples:  sick, homework, family function, funeral, church event.  If a personal situation comes up, please bring it to the attention of our coach. 

C.    School functions are excused and not included toward your excused absences.  School functions include but are not limited to:  orientations, open houses, zoo trip, camp, etc.  This does not include homework needing to be completed. 

 

D.    After school starts, each cheerleader is allowed:    

·   If you practice 2 times/week for the majority of the season, 4 excused absences from practice.

·   If you practice 1 times/week for the majority of the season, 2 excused absences from practice.

E.    Each cheerleader is allowed 1 excused absence from a game

·   Coaches must be called at least one hour before the practice, if a cheerleader is not attending.

·   If the cheerleader has an unexcused absence from a game the discipline is sitting ½ the next game. 

 

F.       If a cheerleader is over the limit of the following, they will have to sit for ½ of the next game:

·   A second excused game absence,

·   or an unexcused absence from practice, 

 

G.      A cheerleader must be dressed and present on the sidelines with the coach in order to serve her discipline.  

 

H.  If a girl is CHRONICALLY late, she can be disciplined. 

·         A written warning should go home to the parent about her being late for practices and games.  If she is late again, then she sits for ½ of the next game.

III. Game Rules:

A.            No pets are allowed at games.

B.            No gum or food will be permitted while cheering.

C.            Cheerleaders must stay with their coach and squad during games.

D.            NO wandering or socializing will be tolerated.

E.    The cheerleader must be in full uniform for games.

 F.            Hair must be pulled back away from face at all times.

 G.    All cheerleaders are to be in full uniform (including socks, shoes, hair bows and briefs) at every game as designated by coach, depending on weather.

H.    The other pieces of the uniform should be carried in your bags.

 I.          If a girl does not come dressed fully:

·         First time warning

·         Sit ¼ of the next game.

J.    Uniforms are to be washed in cold water, gentle cycle and hung up to dry.

 K.    Shoes can be washed with oxy clean or sneaker saver and then air dried.

 L.    The following items should be in the your bag at all times, unless you are wearing the items

·         Turtleneck

·         Pants

·         Handbook

M.    We recommend that you carry these additional items, depending on the weather:

·   Water Bottle

·   Suntan Lotion

·   Bug Spray

·   Gloves

·   Earmuffs

IV. Miscellaneous Rules:

A.    Cheerleaders are to stay with their coach and squad during the games.  No wandering or socializing will be tolerated.

B.    Cheerleaders are representing their team and this organization.  Appropriate behavior is expected at all times while the cheerleader is in uniform.  Inappropriate behavior will result in disciplinary action.

 C.    No profanity will be tolerated from any cheerleader, coach or parent.

 D.    No pets at the practice or game fields.

 E.    Coolers and snacks will not be permitted at any of the games.  After games drinks should be purchased at the host field.  Water bottles are permitted.

F.    Anyone found guilty of any misconduct, unsportsmanlike behavior will be subject to expulsion from the program without refund.

V. General Provisions:

A.    Any parent or cheerleader complaint shall be taken up with the Cheerleading Coach of that team and all efforts should be made to solve the problem.  If the problem still persists, the complaint should be submitted to the cheerleading Board in writing.  The Cheerleading Board will make the final ruling. 

 

B.        A Mason Youth Cheerleading release form must be completed before any cheerleader can participate in any practice or game.  This will be strictly enforced. 

 

C.    The Cheerleading Board may change the eligibility and squad size as required for the betterment of the program.
